5 from 114 reviews

This elegant and simple Pears with Goat Cheese recipe pairs the natural sweetness of roasted pears with creamy goat cheese and a tangy cranberry-honey sauce. Perfect as a light dessert or a sophisticated appetizer, it combines warming cinnamon, fresh mint, and a drizzle of honey for a burst of flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Pears

  • 3 ripe but firm pears (Bartlett or Bosc), halved and cored
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Filling and Sauce

  • 3 oz goat cheese
  • 1/3 cup fresh cranberries
  • 2 tbsp honey (plus more for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for roasting the pears evenly.
  2. Prepare Pears: Slice each pear in half lengthwise and carefully scoop out the cores. Trim the bottoms if needed so the halves can sit flat in the baking dish.
  3. Arrange Pears and Add Butter: Place the pear halves cut-side up in a baking dish and add a small pat of unsalted butter on each half to enhance caramelization during roasting.
  4. Roast Pears: Roast the pears in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until they are fork-tender and golden brown around the edges.
  5. Make Cranberry Sauce: While the pears roast, combine fresh cranberries and 2 tablespoons of honey in a saucepan over low heat. Simmer gently until the berries burst slightly and the mixture thickens.
  6. Cool Pears and Add Cheese: Remove the pear halves from the oven and allow them to cool slightly. Then, fill each pear half with creamy goat cheese.
  7. Add Cranberry Mixture and Honey: Spoon the warm cranberry sauce over the goat cheese in each pear half and drizzle with extra honey for added sweetness.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Garnish with fresh mint leaves and a light sprinkle of ground cinnamon if desired. Serve the pears warm or slightly chilled for the best flavor experience.

Notes

  • Choose pears that are ripe but still firm to ensure they hold their shape during roasting.
  • Substitute honey with maple syrup for a different flavor profile or to make it vegan-friendly.
  • The cinnamon garnish is optional but adds a warm, spicy note that complements the fruit and cheese.
  • For easier eating, you can slice the pears after roasting and assembly.
  • This dish can be served as a light dessert, brunch item, or elegant appetizer.
