Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional, for searing)

Seasonings & Sauce

  • 1 packet dry ranch seasoning mix (1 oz)
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup (10.5 oz)
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Optional Garnish

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Optional Sear Chicken: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken breasts for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown. This step adds extra flavor and texture but can be skipped if short on time.
  2. Prepare Sauce: In the slow cooker, whisk together cream of chicken soup, ranch seasoning mix, chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until smooth and well combined.
  3. Add Chicken to Sauce: Place the chicken breasts into the slow cooker, turning them to coat thoroughly with the sauce mixture.
  4. Slow Cook: Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or on HIGH for 3–4 hours until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
  5. Shred Chicken: Use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker, mixing it into the sauce to absorb all the flavors.
  6. Add Sour Cream: Stir in sour cream until the sauce becomes smooth, creamy, and well combined with the shredded chicken.
  7. Serve: Serve the creamy ranch chicken hot over rice, mashed potatoes, or noodles. Garnish with shredded cheddar cheese and fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For a thicker sauce, you can remove the lid during the last 30 minutes of cooking to allow some liquid to evaporate.
  • Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a healthier alternative.
  • Adding vegetables like mushrooms or bell peppers can enhance the dish.
  • Leftovers store well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • This recipe can be doubled to feed a larger crowd but adjust slow cooker size accordingly.
