Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Pillow Filling

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Dough

  • 1 package crescent roll dough

Creamy Parmesan Sauce

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet to prepare for baking the pillows.
  2. Mix Filling: In a large bowl, thoroughly combine shredded chicken, softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, dried parsley, salt, and pepper until well blended.
  3. Unroll Dough: Open the crescent roll dough package and gently unroll it on a lightly floured surface. Separate the dough into individual triangles.
  4. Fill Dough: Place a generous spoonful of the chicken mixture at the wide end of each crescent triangle, ensuring an even amount for each pillow.
  5. Roll Up: Carefully roll the dough from the wide end to the tip, enclosing the filling completely. Pinch the edges firmly to seal each pillow, preventing the filling from leaking during baking.
  6. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place each sealed pillow on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart so they do not touch to allow even cooking.
  7. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  8. Prepare Sauce: While the pillows bake, heat the heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese continuously until the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
  9. Season Sauce: Add salt and pepper to taste. Let the sauce simmer gently for a few minutes to thicken slightly, stirring occasionally to prevent scorching.
  10. Serve Immediately: Remove the baked chicken pillows from the oven and allow them to cool for about 5 minutes. Drizzle the warm creamy Parmesan sauce over the pillows and garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve while warm.

Notes

  • Ensure cream cheese is softened for easier mixing with other filling ingredients.
  • Do not overfill the crescent dough to avoid leakage during baking.
  • Use fresh Parmesan cheese for the best flavor in the sauce.
  • Leftover pillows can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
  • Optional garnish with fresh parsley adds a nice color contrast and fresh herbal note.
