Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Seasoning

  • 2 small chicken breasts, cut into ½ inch pieces
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for chicken)
  • 1 tablespoon poultry seasoning (or salt, pepper, garlic powder mix)

Bread and Butter Mixture

  • 1 Italian style loaf, sliced lengthwise
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic (or garlic paste)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Alfredo Sauce

  • ½ stick unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley

Toppings

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (additional)
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare and cook chicken: Cut the chicken breasts into ½ inch pieces. Place them in a bowl and drizzle with 1 tablespoon olive oil. Season with 1 tablespoon poultry seasoning or a mixture of salt, pepper, and garlic powder. In a pan over medium heat, cook the chicken pieces until golden brown and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
  2. Prepare garlic butter for bread: Slice the Italian loaf lengthwise to create two halves. In a small bowl, mix 1 stick of melted butter with 1 tablespoon minced garlic, 1 tablespoon chopped parsley, and 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes. Stir until well combined.
  3. Toast the bread: Evenly spread the garlic butter mixture onto both halves of the bread. Place the bread cut-side up on a baking sheet and toast in a preheated 350°F (175°C) oven for 5-10 minutes. Check after 5 minutes and continue toasting until the bread reaches your desired crispiness.
  4. Make Alfredo sauce: Using the same pan from the chicken, reduce heat to medium-low. Add ½ stick butter and let it melt. Stir in 1 tablespoon minced garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant. Reduce heat to low and pour in ½ cup heavy cream. Then add ¼ cup shredded parmesan cheese and 1 tablespoon chopped parsley. Stir continuously and simmer gently for 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat.
  5. Assemble the bread: Spread half of the Alfredo sauce evenly over the toasted bread halves. Layer the cooked chicken evenly on top, followed by ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese. Spoon the remaining Alfredo sauce over the top.
  6. Bake to finish: Return the assembled bread to the oven at 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 5 minutes or until the cheese melts completely and bubbles slightly.
  7. Serve: Remove from the oven, slice the bread into 2-3 inch pieces, and serve warm. Enjoy the rich, garlicky, cheesy chicken Alfredo garlic bread!

Notes

  • For spicier flavor, increase crushed red pepper flakes or add fresh chopped jalapeños.
  • Heavy cream can be substituted with half-and-half for a lighter sauce, but it may be less creamy.
  • Use freshly grated parmesan cheese for best flavor and meltability.
  • Leftover bread can be stored wrapped in foil and reheated to melt cheese again.
  • For a vegetarian option, omit chicken and add sautéed mushrooms or spinach.
