Instructions
- Divide the Cereal: Pour 5 cups of Rice Chex Apple Cinnamon cereal into a medium-sized bowl and the remaining 5 cups into another medium-sized bowl. Set both aside for separate coating.
- Prepare Cinnamon Cake Mix Bags: Take two Ziplock storage bags. In each bag, combine 1 cup of vanilla cake mix, 1 cup of granola, and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Seal and set aside.
- Melt Candy Coatings: In separate microwavable bowls, melt the green candy melts with 1 teaspoon of shortening and the lime green candy melts with 1 teaspoon of shortening, heating in short intervals and stirring until smooth and fully combined.
- Coat the Cereal: Pour the melted green candy melts over one bowl of 5 cups of Chex cereal and the melted lime green candy melts over the other bowl of 5 cups of cereal. Gently stir each bowl to evenly coat the cereal with the melted candy.
- Coat with Cinnamon Cake Mix: Pour each candy-coated cereal mixture into its corresponding Ziplock bag with the cinnamon cake mixture. Seal each bag tightly and shake well until all the cereal is thoroughly coated with the cinnamon cake mix.
- Combine and Finish: Dump the contents of both bags into a large bowl. Gently mix together to combine the two differently coated cereals. Drizzle generously with caramel topping and serve immediately or store in an airtight container for later enjoyment.
