  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Dip Ingredients

  • 16 ounce jar cocktail onions, drained well
  • 8 ounce block cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 Tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 Tablespoon white granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon horseradish
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon oregano
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Prepare Onions: Chop the 16-ounce jar of cocktail onions, drained well, into smaller bite-size pieces and set aside.
  2. Toast Breadcrumbs: In a skillet over medium heat, melt 3 tablespoons unsalted butter. Once melted, add 1 cup panko breadcrumbs along with ½ teaspoon each of onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, and ¼ teaspoon salt. Stir continuously until the breadcrumbs turn a golden brown color. Remove the toasted breadcrumbs from the skillet and transfer half to a bowl.
  3. Mix Dip Ingredients: To the bowl with half the breadcrumbs, add 8 ounces of softened cream cheese, 1 cup sour cream, ½ cup mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons ketchup, 1 tablespoon white granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon horseradish, ½ teaspoon each of onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, oregano, and black pepper, ¼ teaspoon salt, ⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional), 1 teaspoon dried parsley, and the chopped onions. Use a hand mixer to blend all ingredients until smooth and well combined.
  4. Transfer and Chill: Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. If not serving immediately, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Just before serving, top the dip with the remaining toasted breadcrumbs and a sprinkle of dried parsley for garnish. Enjoy the creamy, crunchy appetizer!

Notes

  • For best flavor and texture, use fresh panko breadcrumbs and toast them until golden brown.
  • If you prefer a spicier dip, increase the cayenne pepper to taste.
  • This dip can be made a few hours ahead and stored in the refrigerator—just add the breadcrumbs right before serving to keep them crispy.
  • Feel free to substitute cocktail onions with finely chopped green onions or shallots for a slightly different taste.
